Key Objectives of the Program

Create awareness about the harmful effects of tobacco consumption Reduce the production and supply of tobacco products Ensure regulation and enforcement of COPTA and TOEFI guidelines community engagement and involvement. Strengthening health systems.

Help the people quit tobacco use.

Facilitate implementation of strategies for prevention and control of tobacco advocated by WHO Framework Convention of Tobacco Control (vi) to maintain tobacco free educational institutions (TOFEI).

Program Process

This program is designed to implement the TOFEI Guidelines (Tobacco Free Educational Institution) and COTPA in various districts of Tamil Nadu by enhancing the capacities of key stakeholders in this process who will further ensure compliance to the guidelines on large scale The program will focus on imparting training to Teachers (2 nodal teachers in each school) as per the nomination. The trainer will be identified in collaboration with the state NTCP team.

The program will focus on creating multiple batches of training wherein phase wise approach will be followed for creating master trainers at state as well as district levels.

• The session will be conducted on a fortnightly basis in multiple batches for different districts covering all the topics related to National Tobacco Control Program (NTCP). The program evaluation can be assessed by use of Pre and Post test (which can be done through our iECHO platform, midline assessment by evaluating the learner's knowledge in specific areas. ECHO India have selected "School Engagement" and have expressed interest in implementing their activities by deploying their empanelled Resources Persons.

It is hereby accorded permission to carry out the program on par with the Tamil Nadu State School Education Department norms for the benefit of students by following due diligence and ensuring the safety of the students.

The Chief Educational Officers are hereby instructed to intimate the DEOS/BEOs/DCs/Supervisor In charge/BRTEs and the respective Head Masters to ensure and monitor the effective implementation of those programs laid out in their Proposal and help the assessment and impact study at periodic intervals.

TERMS AND TERMINATION

Upon receiving this permission letter, a consolidation of contact details of the Resource Persons should be submitted for each school to the Namma School Namma Ooru Palli team for effective tracking of projects. The permission letter shall be valid as per the timeline in the permission letter with the effective date unless terminated earlier by competent authorities if found to be deviated from the Tamil Nadu State Education Policy. “ECHO India” shall neither breach this permission letter nor will they delay in performance, or fail to perform any of its obligations under this approval. If such delay or failure results from events, circumstances or causes beyond its reasonable control, “ECHO India" shall intimate Namma School Namma Ooru Palli with substantial justification for the same. "ECHO India” is hereby instructed to share periodic updates and project completion report with Namma School Namma Ooru Palli.

All the program schedules have to be followed as per the availability of the timetable already in the school and the concerned Head Master is authorized to allot the timing to the volunteers without compromising the regular timetable for the academic performance of the students.
