Recruitment for the post of Junior Reporter in Police shorthand Bureau, SBCID, Chennai



Applications are invited in the prescribed format from qualified candidates for filling up of the following post, by direct recruitment in the Police Shorthand Bureau, SBCID., Chennai – Superscribing on the envelope “Application for the post of Junior Reporter”

2. NATURE OF DUTIES:-

The primary duty of the Junior Reporter is to undertake field work in all the places in the Districts / Cities to cover conferences / public meetings / demos etc.

At every stage of the selection, 20 % of all the vacancies will be set apart on preferential basis for the open candidates who have studied in Tamil Medium. To avail this preference, the entire education should essentially be in Tamil medium for all the classes from 1st to 12th Std., Reservation for Persons Studied in Tamil Medium shall be as per G.O (Ms).No.82, Home Resource management (S) Department, dated.16.08.2021.

Communal Reservation:

Community based reservation and reservation for women will be as per existing rules. Community Certificate issued by the Government of Tamil Nadu alone will be considered for communal reservation. Community certificates issued by other state Government will be considered as open category only.

Reservation for Women:

Out of the total vacancies 30% will be allotted for Women candidates. If eligible women candidates are not available for selection, their vacancy will be filled up by the men candidates of the same category during final provisional selection.

Reservation in Employment for Transgender:-

Reservation in Employment for Transgender shall be followed as per G.O.(Ms.) No.90, Social Welfare and Nutritious meal Programme [SW8(2)] Department, dated.22.12.2017.

1. The applicant should have completed the age of 18 years as on 01.07.2023 (should have been born on or before 01.07.2005)

2. Backward Class, Backward Class (Muslim), Most Backward Class / Denotified Communities should have completed the age of 18 years as on 01.07.2023 but not beyond the age of 34 years (should have been born on or after 01.07.1989)

3. Scheduled Caste, Scheduled Caste(Arunthathiyar) and Scheduled Tribes should have completed the age of 18 years as on 01.07.2023 but not beyond the age of 37 years (should have been born on or after 01.07.1986)

4. “Others” [i.e. Candidates not belonging to SCs, SC(A)s, STs, MBCs/DCs, BCs, and BCMs] should have completed the age of 18 years as on 01.07.2023 but not beyond the age of 32 years (should have been born after as on 01.07.1991)

(B) EDUCATIONAL & TECHNICAL QUALIFICATION: ( as on notification date ) Candidates should possess the following qualification on the date of this Notification viz. 14.03.2024.

(i) Must have passed Plus 2 with Tamil as one of the Subjects.

(ii) Must have passed Government Technical Examination in English Shorthand by Higher Grade / Senior Grade (120 w.p.m). (iii) Must have passed Government Technical Examination in English Typewriting by Higher Grade / Senior Grade (45 w.p.m).

(iv) Working knowledge in Tamil Shorthand is required.

(v) The candidate should possess sufficient working knowledge of computer in the day to day functioning of Office.

6. DISQUALIFICATION FOR APPOINTMENT:-

No person shall be qualified for appointment to the Service or being in service:-

(a) if more than one spouse living;

(b) if dismissed or removed from the services by Central Government or State Government or Statutory or Local authority or under any employment or if a candidate after being selected has been discharged from service during probation period or convicted of an offence involving moral turpitude or any such offence or who is or has been permanently debarred or the Union Public Service Commission or any State Public Service Commission from appearing for examinations / interview or selections. (c) If, the Candidates who do not fulfill the eligibility criteria or attempts to take any favour in any form at any stage of Examination; or impersonation by or for the candidate / applicant; or making or submitting any forged document in support of his candidature; or if they conceals any material information or provides any false information at any stage of selection process; or if they uses or attempts to use, improper or illegal means, either for purpose of being permitted to appear in Examination or at any stage of Examination of Examination Room / Hall, or if they, during written examination harasses or threatens or uses un parliamentary words or causes physical injury to or misbehaves with any Officer or employee engaged there; or If they, disobeys any direction relating to Examination including oral directions by the invigilator or observer or any other officer or employee engaged for conducting Examination. Moreover, canvassing in any form will also be a disqualification.

Similarly, any attempts on the part of the candidate to elicit support for their candidature or selection / appointment, through persons of influence or officers of Government will also disqualify them for appointment. (d) Pending Criminal case or a case which has been acquitted wherein the nature of acquittal is not an honourable acquittal.

7. PROCEDURE OF SELECTION:-

Selection will be made in two successive stages i.e., (i) Skill test (Shorthand dictation) and (ii) interview. Final selection will be made on the basis of total marks obtained by the candidates at the Skill test (Shorthand dictation) and interview taken together and subject to the rule of reservation of appointments. Appearance in the Skill test (Shorthand dictation) and interview is compulsory. A candidate who has failed to appear either in Skill test (Shorthand dictation) or in interview will not be considered for selection.
