D.O. Letter No.1660/CS/SG/2023, dated 06.09.2023

Dear Collector,

Sub: Inspection of Schools and Monitoring of "Ennum Ezhuthum" Scheme

TRIUMPAS

I am writing this letter to bring your attention to a matter of utmost importance regarding proper implementation of the "Ennum Ezhuthum" scheme in primary classes of our schools. As responsible officers of the State, it is our duty to ensure that every child receives quality education and benefits from Government initiatives to enhance their learning experience. 2. The "Ennum Ezhuthum" scheme, developed by the Government, represents a groundbreaking approach to primary education. It aims to transform conventional classrooms into dynamic spaces where children actively participate in the learning process. Unlike the traditional method of passive listening, this scheme encourages experiential learning, self-discovery, and peer collaboration. It also introduces a non-threatening assessment system, promoting democratic and inclusive education.

3. To ensure the successful execution of this scheme, I request you to periodically inspect schools within the district. During your inspections, please consider the following aspects:

i. Learning level:

Confirm that children perform and exhibit competence according to their learning levels - "Buds" (4), "Blossoms" (LDL), and "Flowers" (6) for each standard, ensuring that they receive appropriate instruction.

ii. Learning outcomes:

Check whether the learning outcomes, clearly outlined in the teacher's handbook and workbooks, are being achieved.

iii. Activities: Ensure that all activities align with learning outcomes, and that teachers and students engage in them as directed in the teacher's handbook or workbooks.

iv. Happiness and stress levels: Observe whether children appear

happy and stress-free in the classroom environment. v. Special Corners: Verify the existence and utilization of "Story Corner," "Song Corner," "Activity Corner," "Arts and Craft Corner," and "Reading Corner" to encourage creativity and talent development. vi. Non-threatening atmosphere: Your visits should be non-threatening and should serve to motivate and guide teachers as they navigate this paradigm shift in teaching methods.

vii. Infrastructure and facilities:

Assess the quality of the food served under the Chief Minister's breakfast scheme and noon meal programme. Needless to say, the cleanliness of the facilities and availability of proper infrastructure, including toilets and water shall be ensured.

viii. School health scheme: Ensure the effective implementation of the school health scheme in coordination with the National Health Mission and public health. Please ensure that the health screening of all children is conducted by the teachers through the mobile application.

4. Our collective effort in overseeing the implementation of this scheme is imperative in providing our students with a more engaging and effective learning experience. By identifying and addressing any challenges our teachers may face, we can further enhance the welfare of our students and the success of this initiative..

5. Your dedication to this cause is greatly appreciated, and I trust that you will perform these inspections diligently and with the best interests of our students at heart. The Palli Parvai inspection app may be used by you for these inspections. 6. You may also ensure that all the supervisory staff of the school. education department, from the Chief Education Officer to Block Education Officer/BRTE, inspect the schools regularly and observe class rooms through Palli Paravai App.

7. Please feel free to reach out for any support or resources you may require in this endeavor
