Sanction is accorded for creation of temporary posts of the Additional Chief Secretary / Commissioner, D/o Economics and Statistics, the Additional Chief Secretary to Government, Health and Family Welfare Department and the Additional Chief Secretary to Government, School Education Department under Rule 4(2) of the I.A.S (Cadre) Rules, 1954 for a period of one year with effect from 01.01.2026 or till the need for them cease whichever is earlier.

2. The following officers of 1995 Batch of I.A.S of this State Cadre are promoted to Chief Secretary Grade of I.A.S in the post mentioned against each with effect from 01.01.2026: a Government Order (G.O.) from the Public (Special-A) Department of the Government of Tamil Nadu regarding the promotion of Indian Administrative Service (IAS) officers. It sanctions the creation of temporary posts and promotes the 1995 batch of IAS officers to the Chief Secretary Grade. Order Number: G.O.Ms.No.807

3. The Government declare that under Rule 12(1) of IAS (Pay) Rules, 2016, the temporary posts of the Additional Chief Secretary/Commissioner, D/o Economics and Statistics, the Additional Chief Secretary to Government, Health and Family Welfare Department and the Additional Chief Secretary to Government, School Education Department created in para 1 above; and the post of the Additional Chief Secretary/ Managing Director, Chennai Metro Rail Limited and the Additional Chief Secretary/ Chairperson, Tamil Nadu Industrial Development Corporation (TIDCO) referred at Sl.Nos. 1 and 4 in para 2 above, be equivalent in status and responsibilities to the cadre post of "Chief Secretary to Government" specified in the Schedule II A of I.A.S (Pay) Rules, 2016.
