I wish to inform that with the aim to support government school students in improving their skills, it has planned to conduct a Winter workshop for government school students studying in the classes 6 to 9, as a pilot initiative from 26th December to 29th December 2023. This workshop focuses on equipping students with a diverse skill set, aims to ignite curiosity and unleash the full potential of each participant in a fun and supportive setting

Winter Workshops-2023-24

This winter workshop focuses on three key areas - Basics of Theatre, Coding without Computer and Foundational Robotics. The activities which have been planned to be imparted to the students during the workshop are detailed below:

1. In the Basics of Theatre workshop, students will embark on a journey of self-discovery through acting, scriptwriting, and performance. These sessions are designed not just to enhance public speaking and communication skills but also to nurture creativity and self-expression.

2. The Coding Without Computers programme is a distinctive initiative enabling students to learn and build code by using physical blocks and demonstrating the output of the code from within a Mobile app.

3. The Robotics sessions will immerse students in the world of automation and innovation, providing hands-on experiences in designing real-life socially benefitting bots and devices. The students also develop programming skills and increase their knowledge of electronics. Winter workshop implementation

All three workshops are planned to be conducted in a residential mode for a span of 2 or 3 days. The workshops are hosted at 4 districts (centres), namely Chennai, Coimbatore, Thanjavur and Ramanathapuram and students from surrounding districts will be participating in it.

10 students per district and totally 80 students from 8 districts should participate in the workshop held in Thanjavur. 10 students each from 10 districts should participate in the workshops held at other 3 centers. To select interested students to participate in the winter workshop, the CEOs of the respective districts are instructed to share the link of the assigned topic with the Government school teachers of classes 6-9 in middle, high and higher secondary schools. Teachers should fill and register the details of interested students as requested in the form. This form will be open on 20.12.2023 and closed on 22.12.2023.

The registration details will be compiled in the State Project Office of Samagra Shiksha and, the first 10 students' registrations will be selected and given an opportunity to participate in the workshop. The details of the selected students will be shared to the CEOs on 22.12.2023 General Instructions

> Students participating in the workshop must first obtain a letter of consent from their parents and submit it to the HM of the school concerned.

One teacher for every 10 students should accompany the students to the district where the workshop is held. Female teachers should accompany, if girl students are participating the workshop. ➤ The CEOs should make necessary arrangements for providing food, accommodation to the students, teachers, Recourse persons and PMU who visits the program.

➤ Training rooms for workshop should also be arranged.

The time table for the workshops are enclosed in the annexure - I The fund allocated for this workshop is enclosed in the annexure-II The details of the organisatio's and resource persons will be shared.

> The respective organization's resource persons will visit the centers to conduct this workshop. It is also requested to provide the Honorarium for them as detailed in the annexure.

➤ There is a field visit scheduled in Basics of Theatre workshop. Necessary logistics arrangement should be made for this visit.

Robotics kits will be required for the Foundational robotics workshop at Ramanadhapuram. The CEO of the district concerned is informed to procure the kits following the Tamil Nadu Transparency in Tenders Act.



➤ Certificates should be given to all the participating students.

Hence all CEOs of the district concerned are informed to send the students to the workshop venue allocated for the district along with a teacher on the above- mentioned dates to enable the students to participate and benefit out of the workshop.
