ORDER:

Following the methods prescribed in the Government Orders first and second read above, the Teachers Recruitment Board, vide its Notification third read above, invited applications to fill up 2331 vacancies in the post of Assistant Professors in Government Arts and Science Colleges and Colleges of Education, which fell vacant from the years 2012-2013 to 2016-2017, including backlog and shortfall vacancies.

2. In the Review meeting held under the Chairmanship of the Hon'ble Chief Minister on 07.07.2022, among other things, the following decisions were taken: -

The prevailing weightage method for the Direct Recruitment of Assistant Professors (i.e. 34 marks) may be dispensed with and the erstwhile Competitive Written Examinations may again be adopted. However, the marks for written examination shall be fixed as 200 and 15 percent of the marks may be fixed for the Interview (30 marks for Interview). Hence, 230 marks in toto.

It was decided that 4000 posts of Assistant Professor vacancies out of 7198 shall be filled up during this year through Teachers Recruitment Board adopting the above method.

The qualified Guest Lecturers working in Government Arts and Science Colleges and Colleges of Education shall also be permitted to take part in the Open Competitive Written Examinations and they may be awarded suitable weightage for the years of service rendered in Government Colleges.

3. In the letter sixth read above, the Director of Collegiate Education has requested the Government to issue appropriate orders for direct recruitment of 4000 Assistant Professors following the method of Written Competitive Examinations through the Teachers Recruitment Board, by cancelling the notification third read above and to publish a fresh notification for recruitment of 4000 Assistant Professors and has also requested to inform the candidates through the fresh notification, who have already applied for the notification dated 28.08.2019 and 04.10.2019 that they need not apply again and their applications in response to the above notifications shall be considered for this recruitment.

4. In the Government Order seventh read above, orders have been issued dispensing with the awarding of marks under weightage system for teaching experience, qualification and Interview and introducing Written Competitive Examination method for recruitment to the posts of Assistant Professor in Government Arts and Science Colleges and Colleges of Education, through direct recruitment by the Teachers Recruitment Board.

5. In the Government order eighth read above, permission has been granted as a onetime measure to the University Grants Commission qualified Guest Lecturers working in Government Colleges to take part in the Open Competitive Written Examinations.

6. The Government after careful examination hereby revives 4000 (four thousand) posts of Assistant Professors in the Tamil Nadu Collegiate Educational Service that are lying vacant for more than three years, in accordance with the Government Order fourth read above and direct the Teachers Recruitment Board, to cancel the notification for direct recruitment of 2331 posts of Assistant Professors, third read above and to issue a fresh notification for direct recruitment of 4000 posts of Assistant Professors, by following the method of Written Competitive Examinations, ordered in the Government order seventh read above and also to notify that the candidates who have already applied for the notification third read above will be considered and that they need not apply.

7. The Director of Collegiate Education is directed to take necessary action to fill up the revived posts through the Teachers Recruitment Board.
